Remembering 9/11
The drive into New Jersey is uneventful and the weather is just beautiful.
The IM’s to Michael - he insists I stay in NJ, but I ignore his requests…
The rental car blazing on route 80 at 80 miles an hour…and it just won’t go fast enough….
The slow down to the blockade at the GW bridge…the sight of tower 1 falling…almost like watching a movie…my heart races
Driving on 95 backwards at 65 miles per hour…keeping to the right to avoid oncoming traffic…
The Tappanzee…and relief that I made it over with no problem…
The radio announcer was not prepared for this morning…and neither am I.
The phone call finally completed to Michael’s Mom…he is ok and is walking home.
The bridge in the bronx is closed…I find a parking place…decide if I should swim to Manhattan from the spot where a homeless man lives.
Walking the train tracks to get over the bridge. Finally home with my Sweetie and Emma.
