Ego
The Ego comprises that organized part of the personality structure which includes defensive, perceptual, intellectual-cognitive, and executive functions. Conscious awareness resides in the ego, although not all of the operations of the ego are conscious.
I am becoming aware how prominent my ego plays a role in my thoughts, actions, and words. I believe that it clouds my sense of truth and reality. I never realized, for instance, how defensive a person I am sometimes below the surface. Although I try to put up a strong “reasonable and balanced” front, my ego is still strong with me (says my Yoda voice).

What do I do to try and limit my ego’s unnecessary functions? I think letting my super-ego have more time behind the wheel is one thing. I also think that further simplification of my life is another component which includes placing myself on the backside of the stage, rather than directly in the spotlight - while I quietly support those now taking lead.
