Looking Up During the Bad Financial News

These are my five favorite reasons to look up during the downturn (as published by Details magazine):

5. Pennies are cool again
4. You can notify your African child you sponsor that you’ll no longer be able to afford his daily rice ration
3. The financial collapse finally gives you something to talk to your Grandparents about
2. Fewer Hummers
1. The hunch that someone you hated as a child is now ruined.

Jessica Nailed It

Jessica certainly nailed it…

Tim Russert

Today I am remembering with great fondness, Timothy John Russert.

It’s Time

I’m afraid to say it, but I think it’s time that she look at the greater good.

John McCain

Although I have no plans to vote for a Republican in my lifetime, I still thought it was about time I get to know John McCain’s thoughts on gay rights and issues.

John McCain

1. He voted against his party on the same sex marriage ban. (PLUS)

2. He is quoted as saying that the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy is “working” (MINUS)

3. He has said that a gay marriage “ceremony” should be allowed (NEITHER)

According to the HRC he did not vote for some important issues they felt he should have.

I guess I still feel the same about him…

Gay Sin

I have a huge problem with anyone who uses the political system in our country to get on a soap box and proclaim that homosexuality is a sin. Actually, I have no problem with sharing a personal point of view. I just have a problem when the argument is flawed in it’s most basic sense. Mike Huckabee recently argued that if a society accepts gays and lesbians as being a part of it’s concept of family, it will result in the end of that civilization. Did he ever consider the fact that only a small percentage of any society is born gay or lesbian, thereby allowing for the continuation of the human species by the majority of straight people?

Gay Couple

Who does he think he is to judge what constitutes sin anyway?

Dirt

I am sometimes disgusted at the means that some of our fellow citizens will use to try and tear apart those in the opposition. Here’ a blog that is willing to pay $100 for dirt on Obama that will be devastating to his campaign and cause. I understand there was rumored dirt in the Clinton campaign that was “held back”.

Obama

But I wonder, if it is in fact true and if there were some reason the dirt would impact Obama’s ability to serve as President (or get elected), don’t you think the Clinton Campaign would have shared it rather than rumored it to have existed?

Bush is Most Unpopular

…Even more than Nixon…

Big Surprise - heh?

White House

“Meanwhile, Bush reached an unwelcome record. By 64%-31%, Americans disapprove of the job he is doing. For the first time in the history of the Gallup Poll, 50% say they “strongly disapprove” of the president. Richard Nixon had reached the previous high, 48%, just before an impeachment inquiry was launched in 1974.”

Iraq

CNN is reporting this morning that the benchmark test for the latest surge in Iraq is at 50/50. In 30 minutes our President is going to give his usual “insight” into what the report means. For me and anyone who has half an education - getting a 50 on a test is an F - “Failure” - period.

Army

Let’s quit the bullshitting Mr. President. Get our boys home. Stop sticking by your guns (and the hawks that surround you) to save face at the cost of our brothers, fathers, sisters, mothers, and partners. As someone who is opposed to killing of ANY kind in ANY circumstance, I have struggled with your decisions deeply. Now I am verbalizing and reinforcing what so many intelligent Americans are saying - STOP THE MADNESS!

Bush is Just Mean

President Bush issued a warning to Congress on Wednesday that he will veto budget appropriations for the District of Columbia unless the measure contains language barring the district from using any of the money for its domestic partner registry. -365gay.com

This is infuriating.
